PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING. BY USING FIND-A-THERAPIST.COM e-therapy SERVICES, YOU ARE INDICATING YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND AGREEMENT TO THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
Our Find-a-Therapist.com e-therapy services are limited to adults. By soliciting and accepting Find-a-Therapist.com e-therapy services you certify that you are an adult. If you are not an adult, your parent or guardian must consent in advance to the use of Find-a-Therapist.com services. e-therapy client services are provided by independent mental health professionals that met or exceeded the professional qualifications necessary to participate in the Find-a-Therapist.com e-therapy Network. For clients of e-therapy services, the professional counseling relationship is established directly between the client and a designated therapist. You acknowledge and agree that there is no professional therapist-client relationship established between Find-a-Therapist.com and you as a client of e-therapy services. Find-a-Therapist.com merely provides an intermediary service for the benefit of the independent therapists and clients of e-therapy services and you agree that Find-a-Therapist.com shall not be liable for any claim of loss or damage arising out of the use of e-therapy services.
Find-a-Therapist.com is committed to maintaining your privacy and refraining from inappropriately using information about our clients and website visitors. All personal and professional counseling communications with Find-a-Therapist.com and the independent therapists in the Find-a-Therapist e-therapy Network are treated as privileged and confidential communications. There are limited exceptions to this policy as required by law. If it appears to the therapist, or if you advise the therapist, that you are about to do physical harm to yourself or others or that you are engaged in "child abuse" or "elder abuse" as defined in and under local or state laws, the protections afforded by "privileged and confidential communications" do not apply and the independent therapists at Find-a-Therapist.com are bound by specific reporting requirements and ethical principles. There may also be limited legal circumstances where therapists and Find-a-Therapist.com are required to disclose information to third parties, such where a law, regulation, search warrant, subpoena or court order requires us to do so.
We collect individual personal information that you voluntarily provide outside of counseling communications when you access the e-therapy services. This information typically includes your name, address, phone number and credit card information. We also collect information that you voluntarily provide through your responses to assessment forms and surveys. You may also provide individual information to us by other e-mail communications.
We will not disclose to any unaffiliated company any individually identifiably information that you provide to us, except under the limited circumstances described in this policy. If you choose to use Find-a-Therapist.com e-therapy fee services, we will use the billing information that you provide to charge your credit card. Also, if you provide assessment information to us for counseling purpose, we will disclose that information to your therapist. We reserve the right to have an independent therapist monitor client counseling sessions and communications for clinical treatment and quality control purposes, however, such communications otherwise remain privileged and confidential. We will not disclose your individually identifiably personal information (for a fee or otherwise) to a vendor who might want to sell you a good or service without your prior consent.
In accordance with industry practices, we may provide general demographic information about the overall use of our website, services, mental health professionals, clients and visitors to third parties, but no such information will allow you to be individually identified or contacted. In some cases, we may charge the third parties for this information. Find-a-Therapist.com wants your individually identifiable information to remain as secure as reasonably possible and we utilize data security measures to assist us in protecting your information.
We also do not track individually identifiable information about your use of our site. We do not imbed "cookies" (small computer files transferred to a visitor's hard drive), or use other tracking techniques, to allow us to track your use of the site. However, a counseling session identification cookie may be passed to your computer from our server to identify your unique connection to the server and to assist Find-a-Therapist.com in compiling its billing and other administrative reports and information.
Contact information and records relating to telephone or online counseling sessions are not maintained on the Find-a-Therapist.com server or network. Messages sent to us via assessment forms and surveys are processed and moved to a secure server. Email to our regular email address other than e-therapy email is processed as ordinary email. A secure server is employed for the purpose of processing your e-therapy service charges and other website orders. You have the option of furnishing credit card information via the Internet employing a secure server or by telephone. Personal checks or money orders can also be sent via the U.S. Postal Service. Telephone sessions are as secure as you can make them as we have no control over the telephone extensions at your location and have no means of detecting wire taps on your telephone lines and equipment.
Client e-mail addresses and other identifying information are not sold, rented, or otherwise shared with any other organization, group, individual, or entity unless you have opted-in to receive third party promotional communications.
Our website contains links to other independent websites. Our privacy policy does not apply to these other websites and we recommend that you review their respective privacy policies if you elect to connect to them.
