I
view each client as unique, with individual problems,
symptoms, and
strengths. After careful assessment, I present appropriate
counseling or
treatment options. My approach is always based upon respect,
empowerment, and your collaboration in the treatment process. We'll
figure you out together. I'm the specialist in mental and emotional
health, but you're the expert on yourself.
For adults who grew up in chaotic, abusive, neglectful, and/or
alcoholic
families, I offer the Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy
developed by
Shirley Jean Schmidt, MA, LPC. This is a way of helping you get
needs met
now that you missed out on as a child, such as the need to feel
safe, warm, protected and nurtured. It has proven to be so
successful that I now often combine it with EMDR therapy and couples
therapy.
I work with traditional and non-traditional families, with a
specialization
in stepfamilies. I am a professional affiliate of the Stepfamily
Association
of America, and a Certified Stepfamiy Counselor.
