Hello and welcome to my virtual
office! After working with families directly for
over 25 years, I am excited that the Internet allows me
to reach individuals and families across the world
that I might never have otherwise met. I greatly
enjoy helping others overcome life hurdles. I hope I can do
that for you.
Therapy is about working through life
issues together, as a team, in order to reach our
personal best.
I am a licensed Marriage and
Family Therapist (LMFT) that specializes in early
childhood disabilities from attachment disorders, ADHD,
autism, oppositional defiance disorder,
asperger’s, anxiety, depression,
etc. to adult disabilities
including depression, bipolar, borderline personality
disorder, anxiety, and more.
|
I specialize in family issues such
as parenting, behavior management,
abuse, neglect, divorce, custody
issues, parent alienation syndrome
(PAS), marital discord, relationship
issues, family issues, and anger
management. I am an international
speaker and author of a book on
Reactive Attachment Disorder and how
the effects of trauma in the early
years can cause symptoms into
adulthood.
I am a published author and provide
consultation and training at a
national level. I have years of
experience teaching at both the
University of Minnesota and the
University of Tennessee. I find
educating clients in areas of need
is a highly effective tool and so I
use a cognitive-behavioral approach
as a part of therapy. I also use a
Solution focused approach, hoping to
get you to where you need to be as
quickly and efficiently as possible.
You can help design the course of
treatment. Together we will
determine your needs, set goals, and
determine a course of treatment so
you now what to expect right up
front. Sometimes a client simply
needs confirmation on a single issue
or insight into a problem that can
be accomplished in one session.
Others need several sessions.
Therapy can be as flexible as you
need it to be.
I think you will find me to be warm,
compassionate, and truly caring
about the people I meet in my
practice. I have an easy to get to
know personality and take my
practice very seriously. I am a keen
researcher, continuing to educate
myself on an ongoing basis on what
is happening in my field and I pass
this information on to my clients. I
look forward to working with you.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Catherine Swanson Cain
